Folksy Friday :: On Your Bike!

Well, I don't know about where you are but here, every now and again, when it's not actually raining, the weather has really been quite nice - warm and sunny. So I've been taking advantage and hopping on my new bike Matilda in the hope that I'll soon have legs like Elle McPherson.....

So my theme, rather obviously, for my Folksy Friday this week is "bikes" - take a look at all these lovely bike related items found on Folksy this week:

Kindle Cover by Whimsy Woo Designs

Raleigh Chopper Mug by Gelert Design
Bicycle Purse by Handmade by Edwina
"A bike is a bike" T-shirt by Muddy Ground
Hand Embroidered Bike Mini Cushion by Tea with Rachael and Stephen
Bicycle Recycled Card by Love Maisy
Rectangular Bike Brooch by Julia Smith Ceramics

Aren't they great? Which one is your favourite?

Right then I'm off to do another 10 miles ....

Wishing you a great weekend.

A Good Day

This morning Mr A and I went for coffee together (he had the day off today to do some decorating in the kitchen) and when we walked into the coffee shop the girl serving us commented on my new style cherry felt cameo brooch that I was wearing:
After I had explained that not only had I made it, but I also sold them too, she asked to buy one from me. Just like that! Needless to day I was very happy. What a great way to start the day!

How's your day been today?

Have fun

Meet Me On Monday

This week I'm:

Making :: some new look cameo brooches. I'm changing the design slightly and think the new shape works so much better
Meeting :: the Mixed Bags, the monthly crafting group I go to, run by Mrs Quirky Boots. I had a great day (as usual) and the lovely Heather let me have a go on her sizzix machine and I have to say I got a little bit carried away .....
Working on :: my granny square, it's been slow progress as I keep getting distracted with other projects, but it's getting there
Growing :: a very strange plant - no idea what it is, but it's in flower and is really pretty. The flowers have 11 petals!
Reading :: 50 Shades - but only to see what all the fuss is about you understand!
Listening to :: Through & Through by Paris Wells. Mostly at high volume whilst dancing in the kitchen
Watching :: anything but football .....

So what did you get up to over the weekend and what do you have planned for the week ahead? I'd love to know what is influencing your creativity this week - add your name to Mr Linky below to join in.

Have fun

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday :: Cameo Brooches

Today I'm using my little tray again and doing some stitching in front of the TV! I'm making some more little cameo brooches and all the bits of felt are quite small, so I find it easier to work this way. I've designed a strawberry motif, in celebration of Wimbledon, an apple motif, as I thought this might make a lovely "gift for teacher" and an owl motif, well, just because really.

What do you think? I'll try and pop back later to show you the finished items!

So what's on your work-desk this sunny Wednesday morning?

For more Cameo Felt Brooches, check out my Folksy shop.

Have fun.

God Save The Queen!

Recently I signed up for the God Save The Queen swap organised by Lynda over at Hookin' With LaaLaa. The rules were to include a minimum of six items, including at least one handmade item, relating to Britain and Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee and to be received in time for the Jubilee weekend. My lovely swap partner Marina very generously sent me The Most Amazing parcel of pressies, which arrived in a massive box right on time last Thursday:
I was sooo excited to open the box to find 12 individual parcels, beautifully wrapped in union jack wrapping paper - fantastic! And look at all the wonderful goodies I received:
A pair of vintage coronation hair slides.
Red, white & blue coloured yarn - I plan to make a pom-pom garland with this.
A length of red, white & blue ribbon AND a length decorated with a guardsman design.
A pocket mirror with a corgi design on the back.
A gadget cozy made from some very British CK fabric.
A box of Thorntons chocolates - I have to say that Mr A & I have already eaten these.
A packet of Royal Flush playing cards - perfect as Superhero & I play cards all the time.
A commemorative mug - I'm going to display this next to my 1977 version!
Two tins, decorated with guardsman and London buses.
And some Union Jack napkins - which we used at our Jubliee picnic on Sunday.

Thank you so, so much Marina, you have been really generous and I absolutely love all the items you've sent me. (Go check out Marina's blog Evelyn-May Vintage, she made the most fabulous cake for her daughter's birthday).

And thank you too Lynda for organising such a fun swap and helping me meet a new blogging friend. (Lynda is already organising another blog-swap - you can find all the details at Hookin' with LaaLaa).

Hope you have been having a great Jubilee weekend?

Have fun. xx

Vintage Love :: My New Bike

Look at what Mr A gave me for my birthday this week:

A dark green Raleigh Superbe, aren't I a lucky girl? I'm going to get myself a basket and at some point I think I'm going to change the seat, but I think she is absolutely beautiful! I've called her Matilda. I aim to ride her everyday and get uber-fit for the summer - well, that's the plan anyway .....

Do you have a bike?

Have fun. xx

Meet Me on my Birthday

This week I'm:

Celebrating :: my birthday on Monday (19 again!)
Eating :: a celebration lunch by the canal wharf in Harborough with Mr A on a beautifully sunny day, just lovely
Wearing :: my new necklace which Superhero gave to me for my birthday
Listening to :: Marina and the Diamonds, a pressie from Princess
Making :: Chilli Chocolate Truffles, using a Thomasina Miers recipe, the prefect treat
Loving :: my new jug (another gift) as it fits so well in my retro inspired kitchen
Making :: lots of little items on my new "Keep Calm" tray - a bit last season perhaps but it's perfect for finishing small projects in front of the tv!

So what have you been up to this week?

Have fun. xx
