Meet Me on Monday - week 4

Sorry - this post is really late.  Technology and I have been testing our relationship to the max this morning.  So far it has the upper-hand.

Morning.  Hope you have had a great weekend?  Apologies for the lack of MMOM post last week, we had a family holiday down in Cornwall, so I had a computer and phone-free week  Bet you can guess the theme of this weeks post, tee hee.

This week I'm -
Making: a bunting inspired felt necklace, in a seaside blue colour

Growing: my waistline - far too many cream-teas!!
Cooking: a Bank Holiday Family Lunch chicken pie - yum
Wearing: my new blue suede wedgies
Listening to: the kids laughing and laughing trying to get their kite to fly on the beach

Visiting: The Eden Project, Padstow, Rock, St Ives - all my favourite places
Eating: fish and chips at the Harbour
Loving: being near to the sea
Reading: Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch - Harry Potter for grown-ups

Dreaming of: a small holding in the country - sigh
Drinking: far too much rose
Learning: just how much mess small children can get into when eating ice-cream

Meet Me On Monday - week 2

Morning!  Bit of a late start for me this morning, sorry.  We went to London for the day yesterday, so we are all pretty worn out.  Had a great weekend though, hope you did too?

This week I'm:
Watching: Shrek the Musical.  Took the kids to see it in the West-End yesterday and it was brilliant. (There was a whisper that Angelina was there too with her kids).  If you get a chance to see it, do, coz it is really, really good.
Making: A loopy corsage.  Love this colour green.

Eating: Grilled Halloumi, cooked by Mr A on the BBQ - delicious!
ReadingMyrtle and Eunice, my fav blog at the mo.
Meeting: Famfa, for a glass of wine (or, two, or three...).
Remembering: That life is short, so be sure to fill it with love and laughter.

What are you up to this week?

Favourite Thing On A Friday - A Happy Mess

I have recently found Mimi and Tilly and am really enjoy reading it (as I'm all for leading a Glittery Life!) so I thought I'd join in with their new Favourite Thing On A Friday series of posts;

Well, we are four weeks into the the seven week summer holiday and so far I have managed to keep the kids reasonably entertained - phew.  As the weather hasn't been great this week it has given us a good opportunity to do some Arts & Crafts at home, which is one of our most favourite things to do.  We've done some great messy play, such as playing with cornflour and shaving foam and we've done some lovely painting and sticking projects too.  Here are a couple of examples of things we've made:

Suncatchers to hang in the windows.

Mini masterpieces to hang in the freshly decorated play-house.

Some fun wooden spoon people (this was my favourite project).

What's your favourite thing on a Friday?

Here is another couple of reasons why I haven't minded the rain today:

Think I'm going to have a bumper harvest!

Hope you have a fab weekend.  Don't forget to Meet Me on Monday so we can share our adventures from the weekend and our plans for the week ahead.

xx

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday - A Finished Project!

Yes, I actually have a finished project on my workdesk this week.

It is one of Princesses little friends birthday and as she loves all things owl related, I thought I'd make her an owl brooch, based on my Little Owl design.  So this is what I was making in the early hours of this morning:

Hope she likes it.  What is on your workdesk this Wednesday morning?  Wishing a productive day. xx

The Paper Peacock

Before the summer is out Mr A and I plan on redecorating our hallway.  As our property was built in the 1930s, and to reflect my love affair with all things Art Deco, we have decided on a Moderne Black & White theme - white walls, small black and white tiles on the floor, a black Bakerlite telephone and perhaps even an elegant skyscraper-esq art deco mirror.... well that's the plan anyway.

However, to make sure the black and white still has a bit of personality, I've decided I will need an injection colour.  So take a look at my latest treat, purchased from Folksy last month:

The Paper Peacock, by Caroline Rose Art

Isn't it fabulous!  It's a hand-cut paper collage print.  I just love it - I love the colours, I love the shapes and I think it will be just perfect in my new art deco theme.

If you haven't come across Caroline's work before, take a look at her Folksy shop - lots of lovely designs.

Let me know what catches your eye. xx

Meet Me on Monday

I don't know about you, but I always feel as if Mondays belong to everyone else.  There is always so much to organise for the house, the kids, work, etc, etc, that before I know it the day has gone and I haven't had an opportunity to do anything for myself.

What I would really love to do on a Monday morning, when everyone has been packed off to work and school, is to meet up with my girlfriends for a coffee and a catch-up.  I like to hear what has been happening over the weekend and what's planned for the week ahead and then share what I have been up to too.

So, do you fancy Meeting Me on Monday for a coffee and a catch up?  If you do, just post on your blog 5 or more details about yourself from the list below, link back to Jumbleberries and then leave me a link here so I can pop by and have a read - easy (I hope).

Here's the list:

To start us off, here's what I'm up to this week;

This week I'm:
Making - an Orchid Brooch, inspired by a beautiful plant I have growing in my kitchen.
Watching - The Hour. My obsession with 50s glamour continues.  Move over Mad Men, the Brits have arrived!
Drinking - Earl Grey Tea.  I had forgotten how much I like it.
Dreaming of - A Shepherds Hut for my garden that I can use as a craft room.  Dream-on says Mr A.
Listening to - The Beach Boys.  Two weeks til our holiday by the sea, so I'm getting in to the vibe.

What are you up to this week?  Whatever it is, I hope you have a good one. xx

Sunday Baking - Strawberry Shortcakes

My little Superhero's favourite thing to eat at the moment is strawberries, so when Betty over at Tales From Betty Bee Towers posted a delicious sounding Strawberry Shortcake recipe earlier in the week, I knew I had found my Sunday Baking project.

Superhero was tasked with getting all the the equipment ready whilst I gathered all the ingredients.  I was so pleased with myself that I had actually remembered to put the butter in the freezer in preparation that I had then completely forgotten to buy some cream, which of course, I only discovered after we had started mixing flour and sugar, etc.  So we had to improvise and use a strawberry yoghurt instead - which I have to report worked really well!

Superhero enjoyed grating the butter, which he said looked fancy, and wanted gingerbread men shaped shortcakes rather than round ones (and why not?) which we covered with generous amounts of strawberry jam and cream - totally yummy.  Betty recommended serving with a cup of Earl Grey tea, which definitely gets the thumbs up from me.

Look good, don't they?  Did you do any baking today?  xx
